Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

What is InnoTherm made from?

A.

InnoTherm is a unique thermal and acoustic insulation product manufactured predominately from recycled industrial cotton fibres. Polyester fibres are added to give it structural integrity and rigidity so that it can be self-supporting in stud walls.

Q.

What happens if my InnoTherm Insulation gets wet?

A.

Insulation manufacturers are required to have their products tested for moisture absorption according to BBA standards. InnoTherm insulation rates superior to the standards recognised by the British Board of Agrément. If InnoTherm insulation is installed properly moisture problems should not occur attributable to the insulation. If unusual ammounts of moisture (such as a broken water pipe) come in contact with your insulation you should replace the pieces affected.

Q.

Will my InnoTherm insulation burn?

A.

InnoTherm insulation is a flame retarded insulation product. When put into contact with an open flame InnoTherm insulation will 'char' thus becoming an excellent flame spread inhibitor. InnoTherm insulation is tested for flame and heat related characteristics in accordance with strict BBA tests in the United Kingdom and ASTM tests in the United States.

Q.

How does InnoTherm insulation's thermal performance compare to traditional glass and rock fibre based products.

A.

It rates 10% better than glass fibre of like density in Sound Transmission(STC), sound absorption and complies with existing ASTM standards for batting insulation. It has been found by ASTM that this material meets or exceeds quality and performance standards of traditional insulation products. It has the structural integrity to be self supporting in stud wall applications.

Q.

Does InnoTherm insulation contribute to any potential of corrosion to wiring or metal in my building?

A.

No. InnoTherm insulation is tested to BBA and ASTM specifications and shows no corrosiveness greater than observed on sterile cotton.

Q.

Will fungus grow on my InnoTherm insulation?

A.

No. InnoTherm is tested in accordance with BBA requirements.
